Item 8.01. Other Events.
On August 16, 2013, Alon Refining Krotz Springs, Inc. (the “Company”) received correspondence from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) evidencing the approval of a one-year extension of the small refinery exemption from the requirements of the renewable fuel standard for the Company's refinery in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. As a result of this extension, the Company's refinery will be exempt from the renewable fuel standard for the 2013 calendar year.
