Item 8.01 Other Events.
On August 3, 2022, MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. (the "Company") announced that on that date the Company, the holding company for MainStreet Bank, repurchased 115,000 shares of outstanding common stock pursuant to the Company’s current stock repurchase plan. The Company currently has a stock repurchase program in place which authorizes a total of $7.5 million to be used in the repurchasing of common shares. The shares were repurchased in accordance with the limitations set forth in Rule 10b-18 of the Securities and Exchange Commission and other applicable legal requirements. The stock repurchase program does not obligate the Company to repurchase any dollar amount or number of shares, and the program may be extended, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
During 2022, the Company purchased 169,693 shares of common stock under a previous stock repurchase program bringing the total shares repurchased during the year to 284,693.
