Explanation of Responses:

1. Number of common shares issued pursuant to the completion of the hold period ending on 2/19/21 applicable to the time vested Restricted Share Units ("RSU") vested on 1/1/19; RSU were assumed by South State Corporation in connection with the CenterState Bank Corporation merger completed on 6/7/2020.

2. Withholding of shares to pay tax liability applicable to securities issued in accordance with Rule 16(b)-3.

3. To report shares indirectly owned by the reporting person's spouse. These shares were previously included in the reporting person's direct ownership total.
