Item 8.01 Other Events.
On November 3, 2005, NiSource Inc. and Piedmont Natural Gas Company issued a joint press release to announce that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued on November 1, 2005, a certificate authorizing Hardy Storage Company LLC (Hardy Storage) to develop a new underground natural gas storage field. Hardy Storage will convert a depleted natural gas production field in West Virginia into a new underground gas storage field. Nisource Inc. subsidiary Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation and a subsidiary of Piedmont Natural Gas are the joint developers of the project.
