Item 8.01 Other Events

On December 6, 2012, Sotheby's issued a press release announcing the declaration of an accelerated first and second quarter of 2013 cash dividend totaling $0.20 per share of outstanding common stock. The accelerated dividend will be payable on, or before December 31, 2012 to holders of record as of December 26, 2012. This press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this Form 8-K.
