Other Events - --------------------- On June 16, 1999, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an order approving the proposed merger between New England Electric System (NEES) and The National Grid Group plc (National Grid). In its approval order, the FERC found that the proposed merger is consistent with the public interest and will not adversely affect competition, rules, or effective regulation. On June 15, 1999, the Vermont Public Service Board issued an order approving the proposed merger between NEES and National Grid. Several other state and federal regulatory approvals are required to complete the proposed merger.
