         CP SHIPS APPOINTS STEVEN BREAUX AS CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Gatwick, UK (18th May 2005) - CP Ships Limited today announced the appointment
of Steven Breaux as Chief Information Officer effective 23rd May.

Mr Breaux has 20 years of IS/IT experience with Fortune 100 companies. He
joins CP Ships from International Paper where most recently he presided over
major undertakings such as IS architecture design, development and deployment,
systems integration and transition from legacy systems. He has also served in
senior positions at FedEx and Verizon.

"Steven's extensive experience will be of great benefit as we continue to
improve our systems and we complete the integration of our principal companies
into one financial and one operational system, expected later this year. We
are delighted that he is joining CP Ships to lead our IS/IT organization," CFO
Ian Webber said.

Mr Breaux will be based in Tampa, Florida, where CP Ships' IS/IT management
group is located, and will report to Ian Webber.
