On December 18, 2006, Building Materials Corporation of America issued a press
release disclosing its intention to increase its tender offer to purchase all of
the outstanding shares of common stock of ElkCorp, par value $1.00 per share,
from a previously announced price of $35.00 per share to a price of $40.00 per
share cash consideration.
