On July 22, 2004, Provident Bankshares Corporation announced its financial
results for the quarter ended June 30, 2004. The press release announcing
financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2004 is filed as Exhibit 99.1
and incorporated herein by reference.
On July 22, 2004, in conjunction with its earnings release, Provident
Bankshares Corporation is making available supplemental financial information
regarding the Company. As noted in the Company's July 22, 2004 earnings release,
the supplemental financial information is also being posted on the Company's
website at www.provbank.com. The supplemental financial information includes (in
