On June 12th, Unity and First Bank had signed a letter of intent providing for the merger. After subsequent due diligence both parties have been unable to reach a definitive agreement and all negotiations have recently ended. "The termination of acquisition discussions with First Bank was based on a mutual difference on economic valuation," said Unity President and Chief Executive Officer, Anthony J. Feraro. "Based on our further due diligence, the terms and conditions of the original letter of intent were no longer going to assure an acquisition that was accretive to Unity's earnings."
