(NYSE: MPW) (the "Company") announced today that it has completed a $65 million private placement of 7.871% Senior Unsecured Notes due 2016 (the "Notes"). The Notes were issued by the Company's operating partnership, MPT Operating Partnership, L.P. ("MPT"), and guaranteed by the Company. The net proceeds from the Notes, after deducting fees and expenses, are expected to be used primarily for funding future acquisitions of healthcare real estate. The Notes were placed in a private transaction exempt from registration under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, (the "Securities Act") and are governed by an indenture, dated as of July 14, 2006, among MPT, the Company and Wilmington Trust Company. The Notes will pay interest quarterly at a fixed rate of 7.871% per year through July 30, 2011 and thereafter at a floating rate of 3-month LIBOR plus 2.30%.
