AND MICRON ELECTRONICS, INC. ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT OF J.R. SIMPLOT FROM BOARDS OF DIRECTORS Boise, Idaho, June 16, 1999 -- Micron Technology, Inc. (MTI), and Micron Electronics, Inc. (MEI), today announced the retirement of John R. Simplot from the Boards of Directors of both companies effective July 1, 1999. Mr. Simplot, founder of J.R. Simplot Company, has served on the MTI board since 1980 and on the MEI board since 1995. Mr. Simplot was one of the initial investors in Micron Technology and has made many contributions to the company over the years. Steve Appleton, President, Chairman, and CEO of MTI said, "We are grateful to Mr. Simplot for his many years of devoted service and support for this organization. He has provided valuable insight over the years and will be missed by all. We wish him well in his retirement from service with the Company."
