NEWS RELEASE                                                    JANUARY 17, 2007


                   ROCHESTER ANNOUNCES $1.85 MILLION FINANCING

VANCOUVER,  CANADA - ROCHESTER  RESOURCES  LTD.  (TSXV:  RCT;  OTCBB:  RCTFF AND
FRANKFURT:  R5I):  The Board of  Directors  is  pleased  to  announce  a private
placement of up to 1,000,000 units, at $1.85 per unit, with each unit consisting
of one common share and one-half of a common share purchase  warrant.  Each full
common share purchase  warrant will entitle the holder to purchase an additional
common  share,  at a price of  $2.25  per  share,  for a  period  of 12  months.
Canaccord Capital Corporation has been retained as agent to place 850,000 of the
units and is being  paid a fee of 8%,  payable in cash or in units at the option
of Canaccord. The private placement is subject to regulatory approval.
