A method for mounting functional elements in a lens includes mounting the functional elements on a foil, applying a closed contour alignment surface of an alignment tool having a central opening surrounded by the closed contour on the foil portion opposite to the mounted function elements, applying underpressure on the central opening to maintain the foil portion with the mounted functional elements on the alignment tool, cutting a flap including the foil portion and supporting the functional elements out of the foil, positioning and aligning the flap through actuator, fixing the position of the flap against the adjacent foil surface, embedding the foil with the mounted functional elements in a predetermined distance to the front surface of a mould, and casting and curing the lens with the embedded foil.

A sensor measurement device includes: an impedance analyzer to determine an impedance of a sample; a first antenna configured to generate electromagnetic radiation having a first wavelength; an impedance-matching device, positioned in a radiation path between the first antenna and the sample, to receive the electromagnetic radiation from the first antenna and transmit electromagnetic radiation of the first wavelength into the sample, the impedance-matching device comprising a metasurface including: a substrate having a thickness no greater than the first wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation; and a plurality of elements supported by the substrate, wherein: the plurality of elements are spaced apart from one another across the substrate, each element has a first dimension no greater than the first wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation, and at least two elements of the plurality of elements differ in one or more of shape or size; and a second antenna configured to receive the electromagnetic radiation from the sample.

A lens with an embedded foil is produced, comprising the steps of providing a first mold and a second mold, providing a functional foil, positioning and attaching the functional foil on the first mold, aligning the second mold relatively to the first mold, sealing the mold cavity between the first mold and the second mold, and filling a curable monomer mixture into the mold cavity, wherein either the molds are heated before the alignment step or the molds are heated after the sealing step and the following filling step is conducted with a heated monomer, or the heating of the molds follows the filling step of the UV curable monomer, followed by a UV curing step of the heated UV curable monomer mixture within the heated mold cavity.
