Throughout this annual report the term “stand-alone commercial laundry equipment” refers to commercial laundry equipment excluding the consumer laundry market, drycleaning equipment and custom engineered, continuous process laundry systems and the term “stand-alone commercial laundry equipment industry” includes laundromats, multi-housing laundries and on-premise laundries and excludes consumer laundry, drycleaners and continuous process laundries. Our business began in 1908 when we introduced a hand-operated washer to the marketplace. Industry leading features were introduced under the Speed Queen® brand with the introduction of stainless steel wash tubs in 1938 and automatic washers and dryers in 1952.
