On April 22, 2022, Southern Peru Copper Corporation (“SPCC” or the “the Branch”), the Peruvian branch of Southern Copper Corporation (“SCC”), learned that the group of community members from the Tumilaca, Pocata, Coscore and Tala Community, who had illegally blocked the railroad track to its Cuajone mine and occupied its Viña Blanca reservoir, which supplies water to the Cuajone mine and camp, withdrew from these facilities.
The Branch is evaluating the damage caused by the acts of vandalism by these individuals to the Viña Blanca reservoir and the railroad track in order to proceed to repair the facilities and take the necessary steps to resume production at the Cuajone mining unit as soon as possible.
