On January 5, 2011, Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. issued a press release announcing the publication inThe New England Journal of Medicineresults from the Company’s two pivotal Phase 3 efficacy and safety studies of XIFAXAN® (rifaximin) 550 mg tablets for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome without constipation. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated herein in its entirety by reference.
