Item 8.01 Other Events
On April 15, 2006, Eastern Virginia Bankshares, Inc. issued a news release announcing plans to complete the consolidation of its three subsidiary banks into one bank and the resulting reorganization of the Registrant into a single bank holding company. This occurred over the weekend of April 22 to April 24, 2006. A copy of the press release is being filed as an exhibit to this report and is incorporated by reference into this Item 8.01.
