TNT completes sale of freight management business
TNT N.V. today announced that it has completed the sale of its freight management business unit to French logistics service provider GEODIS SA. The now completed sale to GEODIS was announced on 16 November 2006. The total transaction value is € 460 million on a cash and debt free basis. Taking into account various deal related costs and deductions, TNT expects net proceeds of approximately € 450 million. The book gain of the transaction is expected to be approximately € 190 million. Final amounts will be calculated on the basis of completion accounts. The results of the transaction will be accounted for in our Q1 profit for discontinued operations.
We confirm our intention, as stated at our Analysts' Meeting on 4 December 2006, to use most of the proceeds of the sale of the freight management business to make further share repurchases, subject to necessary approvals and any currently unforeseen circumstances.
