Farmers & Merchants Bancorp Announces an
Increase in the Mid-Year Cash Dividend
The Board of Directors of Farmers & Merchants Bancorp declared a mid-year cash dividend of $5.35 per share, a 5% increase over the $5.10 per share paid in July of 2009. The cash dividend will be paid on July 1, 2010, to shareholders of record on June 11, 2010. Kent Steinwert, Chairman, President and CEO noted, “The Board is extremely pleased with the Company’s full year 2009 and year-to-date 2010 financial results and unanimously approved the cash dividend. While many banks continue to limit their dividend payouts as a result of the difficult economic environment, this is the thirteenth consecutive year that Farmers & Merchants Bancorp increased the mid-year cash dividend.”
Farmers & Merchants Bancorp earned net income of $6.1 million for the quarter ending March 31, 2010. Earnings per share of common stock outstanding for the first quarter were $7.75, up from $7.55 for the first quarter of the prior year. Return on average assets for the quarter was 1.38% and return on average equity was 14.51%. With non-performing loans representing only 0.48% of total loans at March 31, 2010, the Company’s loan quality improved when compared to year-end 2009 and remains strong compared to the overall banking industry at the present time. In addition, the Company’s loan loss reserve was 2.85% of loans.
