METLIFE PRICES PUBLIC OFFERING OF COMMON STOCK
NEW YORK, October 8, 2008 — MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) announced today that it has priced a public offering of 75 million shares of common stock at $26.50 per share for gross proceeds of approximately $2 billion. In addition, the underwriters have an over-allotment option to purchase an additional 11.25 million shares of common stock. MetLife expects to use the net proceeds from the sale of the common stock for general corporate purposes and potential strategic initiatives.
Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC is the sole bookrunning manager of the offering. Merrill Lynch & Co. and UBS Investment Bank are acting as joint lead managers of the offering.
