MTS Announces Subscriber Growth Numbers for January 2005
Moscow, Russian Federation – February 10, 2005 – Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (“MTS” - NYSE: MBT), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, announces that its consolidated subscriber base reached 35.94 million users on January 31, 2005.
During January 2005, MTS’ consolidated subscriber base increased by 1.72 million subscribers, of which 1.36 million were added in Russia. The growth was due to the dynamic development of the Company’s business; in particular, the continued effect of increased consumer activity during the New Year holiday period.
