ITEM 9. REGULATION FD DISCLOSURE
On March 15, 2004 The Phoenix Companies, Inc. announced in a news release that it had filed its
Annual Report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2003 with the Securities and Exchange
Commission, and that, due to a change in accounting methodology related to the Company's accounting for certain
collateralized obligations pools and for the adoption of a new accounting standard, FIN 46-R, such report
includes revisions to previously reported 2003, 2002 and 2001 net income and certain balance sheet amounts.
