On November 21, 2023, Infinera Corporation (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that it was awarded a California Competes (“CalCompetes”) grant by the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development valued at up to $14 million, disbursed over five years. The CalCompetes grant will allow the Company to expand and modernize its domestic production of next-generation semiconductors and continue to support innovation and economic development in the United States. The CalCompetes grant program is one of California’s incentive programs leveraging federal funds available under the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors Act (the “CHIPS Act”). The CHIPS Act is designed to encourage growth and expansion of semiconductor manufacturing and research and development in the United States. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and is incorporated herein by reference.
