Explanation of Responses:

1. On July 18, 2024, 29,500 shares of Costco common stock were distributed to the reporting person in payment of an annuity from a grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT I) of which he is the sole grantor, trustee and annuity beneficiary.

2. On July 18, 2024, 3,350 shares of Costco common stock were distributed to the reporting person in payment of an annuity from a grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT II) of which he is the sole grantor, trustee and annuity beneficiary.

3. On July 18, 2024, 3,350 shares of Costco common stock were distributed to the reporting person in payment of an annuity from a grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT III) of which he is the sole grantor, trustee and annuity beneficiary.

4. On July 18, 2024, the reporting person contributed 10,000 shares of Costco common stock to a grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT IV) of which he is the sole grantor, trustee and annuity beneficiary.

5. On July 18, 2024, the reporting person contributed 10,000 shares of Costco common stock to a grantor retained annuity trust (GRAT V) of which he is the sole grantor, trustee and annuity beneficiary.
