Explanation of Responses:

1. There is no reportable change since the last filing. This is a reiteration of holdings only.

2. On 03/29/17 the reporting person transferred 56,727 shares of HPE from The Ann M. Livermore TTEE U/A DTD account to The Livermore 2003 Trust account.

3. The shares previously held indirectly under HPE's 401(k) Plan were an approximate value based upon the fund balance and market value of HPE's common stock. The reporting person received an in-kind distribution on 11/30/16 in connection with the reporting person's retirement as an employee of the Issuer. The HPE shares were rolled over from the reporting person's 401k account at Fidelity Investments Institutional Services Company, Inc. to the Ann Livermore IRA at Goldman Sachs.

4. Each restricted stock unit represents a contingent right to receive one share of Issuer's common stock.

5. On 04/21/17 the reporting person was granted 11,853 restricted stock units ("RSUs"), all of which will cliff vest on the earlier of 04/21/18 or the date of Issuer's 2018 Annual Stockholders Meeting. Dividend equivalent rights accrue with respect to these RSUs when and as dividends are paid on Issuer's common stock.
