ASHFORD HOSPITALITY TRUST PROVIDES UPDATE ON
RECENT OPERATING PERFORMANCE
DALLAS, August 16, 2021 -- Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. (NYSE: AHT) (“Ashford Trust” or the “Company”) announced today its preliminary operating results for the month of July. For the month of July, Comparable Hotel Net Income was $7.9 million. Comparable Hotel EBITDA for the month of July was $26.4 million, a 27% increase over June’s Comparable Hotel EBITDA of $20.8 million. The Company’s current monthly run-rate for cash interest expense is approximately $11 million and its current monthly run-rate for corporate G&A and advisory expense is approximately $4 million.
Additionally, as of June 30, 2021 the Company had net working capital of $531 million, which equates to approximately $18.32 per share based on the current fully diluted share count. This compares to the closing price of the Company’s common stock as of August 16, 2021 of $13.50.
“We are pleased to report these strong results for the month of July and are excited about the positive momentum we saw in the operating performance of our diverse portfolio, which was driven by strong leisure and transient demand,” commented Rob Hays, Ashford Trust’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our Hotel EBITDA performance for July exceeded our own internal estimates. Additionally, we continue to see our stock trade at a significant discount to our cash value per share and do not believe this reflects the intrinsic value of our high-quality portfolio.”
We use certain non-GAAP measures, in addition to the required GAAP presentations, as we believe these measures improve the understanding of our operational results and make comparisons of operating results among peer real estate investment trusts more meaningful. Non-GAAP financial measures, which should not be relied upon as a substitute for GAAP measures, used in this press release are Hotel EBITDA. Please refer to our most recently filed Annual Report on Form 10-K for a more detailed description of how these non-GAAP measures are calculated. The reconciliations of non-GAAP measures to the closest GAAP measures are provided below and provide further details of our results for the period being reported.
The following tables are reconciliations of the Company’s Hotel EBITDA for the months of July 2021 and June 2021:
