Item 8.01. Other Events.
On September 14, 2016, Tessera, Inc. (“Tessera”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tessera Technologies, Inc. (the “Company”), entered into a settlement agreement with St. Paul Mercury Insurance Company (“St. Paul”), settling their previously-reported insurance coverage litigation. The insurance coverage litigation related to Tessera’s defense of the litigation brought against Tessera in 2011 by Powertech Technology Inc. Pursuant to the settlement with St. Paul, Tessera will receive $5.0 million in the third quarter of 2016. This amount will be reflected as an offset of expenses in the Company’s third-quarter GAAP financial results.
