ITEM 5. OTHER EVENTS AND REQUIRED FD DISCLOSURE.
On June 7, 2004, New Century Bancorp, Inc. (the “Registrant”) announced that its Board of Directors had declared an 11-for-10 stock split to be effected as a 10% stock dividend payable on July 1, 2004 to shareholders of record as of June 15, 2004. Cash will be paid in lieu of fractional shares.
A copy of the press release (the “Press Release”) announcing the Registrant’s stock dividend is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference into this Item 5.
