DENVER, CO—October 17, 2013—Emerald Oil, Inc. (NYSE MKT: EOX) (the “Company”) announced today that it has completed the sale of 5,092,852 shares of its common stock to affiliates of White Deer Energy ("White Deer"), an energy private equity firm, for approximately $32.5 million. The Company plans to use the net proceeds from the private placement, along with the proceeds from its recently completed public offering, to accelerate development and growth plans, finance in whole or in part, the cost of leasing and acquisitions and finance capital expenditures and/or general corporate purposes.
The shares of common stock offered and sold to White Deer pursuant to the securities purchase agreement will not be registered under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and may not be offered or sold in the United States absent registration or an applicable exemption from registration requirements.
