On August 5, 2008, George D. Johnson, Jr. resigned from his positions as Chairman of the Board and a director of Advance America, Cash Advance Centers, Inc. (the “Company”), effective immediately. Mr. Johnson resigned for personal reasons and not because of any disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to its operations, policies or practices. The press release announcing Mr. Johnson’s resignation is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 to this current report and is incorporated herein by reference.
