On November 9, 2007, the Board of Directors of Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. ("Alpha") appointed Kevin S. Crutchfield as a new director. Mr. Crutchfield also will continue to hold the office of President of Alpha.
Alpha issued a press release on November 12, 2007 announcing the appointment. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.
