Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.
On October 24, 2019, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka (FHLBank) received non-objection from the Federal Housing Finance Agency regarding amendments to FHLBank’s Benefit Equalization Plan (BEP). The BEP was amended by FHLBank’s board of directors on September 20, 2019, and is effective January 1, 2020.
The BEP is an unfunded non-qualified retirement plan that is primarily intended to provide the deferral of compensation for a select group of management, highly compensated employees, and directors (Members). In conjunction with FHLBank’s decision to discontinue the future accrual of benefits pursuant to its Defined Benefit Pension Plan after January 1, 2020, the revisions to the BEP provide that no Pension Benefits will accrue for any Member of the BEP on or after January 1, 2020. The revisions also simplify the process for claims for benefits pursuant to the BEP.
The foregoing summary of the BEP is qualified in its entirety by reference to the BEP attached hereto as Exhibit 10.1, which is incorporated herein by reference.
Item 9.01 Financial Statements and Exhibits.
(d) Exhibits
10.1 Benefit Equalization Plan, effective January 1, 2020.
