ITEM 8.01 OTHER EVENTS.
On August 2, 2011 Mercer International Inc. (the “Company”) announced by press release that its Board of Directors has authorized a repurchase program for up to $25 million of the Company’s outstanding shares of common stock over the next 12 months, along with an equivalent reduction in the Company’s long-term indebtedness over the same period. A copy of the Company’s press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
