Explanation of Responses:

1. The reporting person is the Secretary/Treasurer with share ownership of 16.5%.

2. Includes restricted stock granted pursuant to the Coastal Financial Corporation 2018 Omnibus Incentive Plan which vests as follows: 939 shares of common stock vest one day prior to the issuer's 2023 Annual Shareholder Meeting.

3. The reporting person disclaims beneficial ownership of the shares held by the child's trust, and this report should not be deemed an admission that the reporting person is the beneficial owner of such trust's shares for purposes of Section 16 or for any other purpose.
