ITEM 5.02 DEPARTURE OF DIRECTORS OR CERTAIN OFFICERS; ELECTION OF DIRECTORS; APPOINTMENT OF CERTAIN OFFICERS; COMPENSATORY ARRANGEMENTS OF CERTAIN OFFICERS
On June 28, 2017, Northfield Bancorp, Inc. (the “Company”) announced that effective October 31, 2017, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John W. Alexander, age 67, will retire as Chief Executive Officer, and President and Chief Operating Officer Steven M. Klein, age 52, will succeed Mr. Alexander as Chief Executive Officer of the Company and its banking subsidiary, Northfield Bank (the “Bank”). Mr. Klein was named Chief Operating Officer of the Company and the Bank in 2011. He was appointed President effective February 1, 2013, and retained the title of Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Alexander will remain as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company and the Bank.
