Explanation of Responses:

1. The shares of common stock were purchased in a public underwritten offering completed by Aravive, Inc. on December 2, 2019. The shares are held by Samsara BioCapital, L.P. ("Samsara BioCapital"). The Reporting Person is a managing member of Samsara BioCapital GP, LLC, the general partner of Samsara BioCapital. The Reporting Person disclaims beneficial ownership of these shares except to the extent of the Reporting Person's pecuniary interest therein.
