1. These securities are deferred restricted common unit awards granted under The Carlyle Group L.P. 2012 Equity Incentive Plan. These securities will vest on May 1, 2018, subject to Mr. Hance's continued service to Carlyle Group Management L.L.C., the general partner of The Carlyle Group L.P., (or its affiliates) on such vesting date.
