GENIE ENERGY DECLARES 3^rd QUARTER 2016 DIVIDEND ON PREFERRED STOCK

NEWARK NJ – October 14, 2016: The board of directors of Genie Energy Ltd., (NYSE: GNE, GNEPRA) has declared a third quarter 2016 dividend of $0.1594 per share of its Series 2012-A Preferred Stock.

The dividend will be paid on November 15, 2016 to preferred stockholders of record as of the close of business on October 28, 2016. The ex-dividend date is October 26, 2016.

The distribution will be treated as a return of capital for tax purposes.
