As you may have seen in today’s news, Shire announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ViroPharma Incorporated. This acquisition broadens and strengthens Shire’s rare disease portfolio. Shire would like to take this opportunity to assure you of its continued commitment to providing a high level of service to HAE patients and the rare disease community.
The acquisition of ViroPharma is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory clearances. Pending anti-trust authority clearances, it is anticipated that the transaction will close in the last quarter of 2013, the first quarter of 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. We will have more information available at that time.
