Explanation of Responses:

1. Represents award of restricted stock units ("RSUs") that will vest in three equal installments over the three year period from the grant date, subject to continued service as an employee of Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (the "Company"). RSUs may be settled only for shares of common stock on a one-for-one basis.

2. Settlement of RSUs granted on March 24, 2020 that vest in three equal installments over the three year period from the grant date.

3. Settlement of RSUs granted on March 25, 2019 that vest in three equal installments over the three year period from the grant date.

4. Each performance right represents a contingent right to receive one share of the Company's common stock, subject to continued employment and other conditions. One tranche of the performance-based RSUs ("PRSUs") will vest upon the Company's absolute total shareholder return equal to or exceeding certain targets during the applicable performance period. The other tranche of the PRSUs will vest upon the Company achieving certain returns on invested capital during the applicable performance period.
