Item 8.01 Other Events.
On October 17, 2013, ALCO Stores, Inc., (the “Company”) mailed a letter to some of the Company’s stockholders informing them that Institutional Shareholder Services, a leading independent proxy voting and corporate governance advisory firm, recommended that the Company’s stockholders vote in favor of the previously announced, proposed merger with an affiliate of Argonne Capital Group, LLC. In the letter, the Company also solicited the vote of the Company’s stockholders in favor of the matters to be considered at the previously announced special meeting of the Company’s stockholders, which is to be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
