Tellabs CEO Notebaert resigns to become Qwest CEO, Tellabs Chairman Birck resumes CEO duties

Richard C. Notebaert resigns as president, chief executive officer and director of Tellabs to accept a position as chief executive officer of Qwest, effective immediately. Chairman Michael J. Birck resumes the roles of chief executive officer and president. Further details are contained in the press release of Tellabs, Inc., dated June 17, 2002, attached hereto as Exhibit 99 and incorporated herein by reference.
