The following communication was made available to customers of FirstMerit Bank, National Association in Ohio and Michigan’s lower peninsula on March 1, 2016.
What you can look forward to as
FirstMerit joins with Huntington
Dear Valued Client:
As you may know, FirstMerit recently announced plans to merge with Huntington, pending regulatory and shareholder approvals. This proposed transaction will involve the merger of FirstMerit Bank into Huntington Bank and will bring together two of the region’s strongest and most respected banks. I’m confident that we’ll set a new standard for service in the Midwest, and this letter is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you fully informed about the progress.
Right now, it’s banking as usual
FirstMerit will continue to operate separately until all regulatory and shareholder approvals are received and the companies are merged. Until then, you should continue to bank with us just as you always have:
| • | | Continue to bank at your current FirstMerit branches and ATMs |
| • | | Keep using your FirstMerit checks, cards, online and mobile banking |
| • | | Count on your FirstMerit products and services to meet your banking needs |
What you can expect
When the conversion is completed in early 2017 (pending regulatory and shareholder approval), you’ll have the choice of a total of more than 1,000 branches and 2,000 ATMs across eight states and in-store locations with 7-day banking – offering you more branches than any other bank in both Michigan and Ohio.
Once approved and after the merger is completed, the branch network will be fine-tuned to minimize overlap. Customers will receive prior notice of any changes to their branch, in accordance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Please be assured, with the addition of hundreds of new branches and in-store locations, as well as top-notch online and mobile banking, the net result will be a major gain in banking convenience.
Even more important, the combined strength will reaffirm the shared commitment to customers, our employees, and the communities we serve. Both organizations have been acknowledged by J.D. Power & Associates, Money Magazine and Greenwich Associates, and the goal is to achieve the same high level of distinction as a united organization.
Watch for additional merger updates
We’ll be sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, check our website for the latest news. Or you can obtain further information by visiting huntington.com/HuntingtonandFirstMerit.
Good things are in store, and we look forward to welcoming you to the most convenient banking in the region when FirstMerit becomes part of Huntington.
Sincerely,
