Kansas City Southern ("KCS" or the "Company") is filing under Item 2.02 of this Current Report on Form 8-K, the information included as Exhibit 99.1 to this report. Exhibit 99.1 is the KCS press release dated October 26, 2005, announcing the impact on third quarter earnings of three individually significant items which include:
The previously announced Value Added Tax ("VAT") Settlement,
The effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and
The impact of an increase in casualty reserves.
