FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Science and Engineering, Inc. Receives $1.4 Million Order
for Multiple Parcel X-ray Inspection Systems
Systems to be deployed in the Middle East
BILLERICA, Mass. — November 14, 2005 — American Science and Engineering, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASEI) (AS&E®), a leader in X-ray detection technology, announced today the receipt of a $1.4 million order from a Middle Eastern client for multiple Model 66ZPLUS™ parcel X-ray inspection systems.
“This order from our high-security client underscores the value of Z® Backscatter™ detection combined with transmission X-rays to counter terrorist threats,” said Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO. “The combination of technologies provides the unique ability to detect plastic explosives, plastic weapons, and other contraband in parcels and other small packages. The Model 66ZPLUS provides the most information about a parcel under inspection, allowing officials to make the most informed decision regarding the safety of their facilities.”
Parcel, Mail, and Baggage Inspection Systems offer varying tunnel sizes and configurations to fit various application and inspection environments. Compact X-ray units screen smaller items, including mail and briefcases; while larger, open-tunnel systems inspect oversized baggage and small cargo. These systems are primarily used in government facilities, airports, high-security federal facilities, commercial office buildings, and convention centers.
