Allegheny Energy Announces $150 Million Bond Issuance
GREENSBURG, Pa., September 13, 2006—Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE: AYE) today announced that its subsidiary, Monongahela Power Company, will issue $150 million (principal amount) of first mortgage bonds. The bonds will carry a coupon of 5.70 percent and mature on
March 15, 2017.
Monongahela Power intends to use the net proceeds from the sale of the bonds, plus available cash on hand, to fund the repayment at maturity of the $300 million aggregate principal amount of 5.0 percent first mortgage bonds due October 1, 2006.
The bonds have not been registered under the Securities Act of 1933 and may not be offered or sold in the United States absent registration or an applicable exemption from the registration requirements of the Securities Act.
