Item 1.04 Mine Safety - Reporting of Shutdowns and Patterns of Violations.
On October 1, 2019, Knife River Corporation - Northwest, an indirect subsidiary of MDU Resources Group, Inc., received an imminent danger order issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration under section 107(a) of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977. The imminent danger order was issued at the McNutt pit in Linn County, Oregon, upon observation of a vendor employee standing upright on the bulk tank of a company fuel truck while filling the bulk fuel tank without adequate fall protection. The distance from ground level to the platform was approximately 8 feet 6 inches. Upon observation the vendor employee came down, thereby terminating the order.
