Explanation of Responses:

1. The 1,800 variable rate demand preferred shares ("Shares") reported as acquired in Table I represent Shares of BlackRock MuniYield New Jersey Fund, Inc. (the "Issuer") beneficially owned by Wells Fargo Bank N.A. ("WFBNA"). The Shares were acquired for a purchase price of $100,117.315067 per share (representing $100,000 per share liquidation preference and accrued dividends of $117.315067 per share). WFBNA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company ("Wells Fargo").

2. This statement is jointly filed by Wells Fargo and WFBNA. Wells Fargo holds an indirect interest in the Shares listed in Table I by virtue of its indirect ownership of its subsidiary WFBNA.

3.
