Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
On October 20, 2008, the Board of Directors of Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Inc. set a record date of January 7, 2009, for Piedmont's 2009 Annual Meeting of Shareholders scheduled for March 6, 2009.
Item 8.01 Other Events.
On October 17, 2008, Moody's Investors Service issued a Credit Opinion on Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Inc. in which it reaffirmed Piedmont's Senior Unsecured rating of A3. The rating agency also maintained its Stable Outlook.
